Samborsky Wins Record 5th Title! | |
 The 2011 Metropolitan Championship proved to be a record breaking event. No other amateur male golfer has won the same title five times since Miami Valley Amateur Championships began back in 1919. Today's round stayed close until Bernard doubled bogied #9 giving Pete a five shot lead heading to the back nine. Samborskys lead swelled to nine shots after birdies on 14 & 15. Before finishing as a 7 shot victory with Bernards closing birdie and Samboskys 72nd hole bogey. Defending Champion Jeff Scohy finished strong with a 69 having him finishing in fourth place. The best round of the day belonged to Nick Scott who closed with a 68 allowing him a top ten finish.
